Here we have a used Springfield Armory Echelon chambered in 9mm that somebody already spent the money setting up properly.

For once, you can buy a used pistol without immediately sitting down at the computer and spending another several hundred dollars turning the pistol you just bought into the pistol you actually wanted.

The Echelon is Springfield Armory's modern striker-fired service pistol, built around a modular chassis-style fire control system and their Variable Interface System optic mounting setup.

Springfield looked at the modern duty-pistol market and decided to show up prepared.

I like the Echelon.

There. I said it.

Modern striker-fired pistols have reached the point where everybody is fighting over increasingly small differences, and the Echelon managed to bring a few genuinely useful ideas to the table.

The optic system is one of them.

Instead of requiring you to collect adapter plates like Pokémon cards every time you change optics, Springfield's Variable Interface System uses configurable pins to accommodate a variety of common optic footprints.

This one already has a Holosun 407C sitting on it, so unless your first hobby after buying guns is immediately changing perfectly functional optics, you're already ahead.

Then there's the Holosun P.ID weapon light.

Because apparently whoever owned this pistol before you understood that darkness continues to exist.

It gives the gun a complete modern setup without turning it into one of those pistols with so much shit attached that the holster needs structural engineering approval.

The Echelon also has good texturing, aggressive slide serrations, a usable factory sight arrangement, and enough grip surface that it doesn't feel like you're trying to hold onto a wet bar of soap.

It's a practical setup.

And surprisingly, I don't have much shit to talk about.
