Here we have an I.O. Inc. Sporter chambered in 7.62x39mm, wearing traditional wood furniture and including four magazines.

It’s an AK.

It has wood.

It shoots 7.62x39.

There really isn’t a PowerPoint presentation required here.

This particular rifle does have a couple useful upgrades worth pointing out.

The standard safety selector has been replaced with an aftermarket selector featuring a bolt-hold-open notch. This allows the charging handle to be captured in the open position, which is genuinely handy for range use, cease-fires, chamber checks, or anytime you want the action visibly held open.

It also has a rubber recoil buffer installed at the rear of the action near the rear trunnion. The buffer is intended to cushion the bolt carrier at the end of its rearward travel and reduce direct metal-on-metal impact against the rear of the receiver/trunnion area.

Is an AK going to spontaneously disassemble itself without one?

No.

But somebody clearly spent a little time setting this rifle up instead of buying it, firing two magazines through it, and abandoning it in the back of the safe for the next 11 years.

The rifle is in good used condition with normal signs of handling and use. The wood furniture presents nicely, the metal finish is in good overall shape, and nothing about it is pretending to be a museum piece.

It also includes four magazines as pictured: two polymer magazines and two steel magazines.

I know how the internet works.

Mention I.O. Inc. in an AK discussion and approximately 47 people will immediately emerge from the bushes to explain their opinions in exhausting detail.

That’s fine.

We’re not selling this as a museum-grade Soviet bring-back personally blessed by Mikhail Kalashnikov while someone played the Soviet national anthem in the background.

It’s a used American-made AK-pattern rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm, and we’re describing exactly what’s sitting in front of us.

What I do like about this particular rifle is that it already has a couple simple upgrades that make living with an AK a little nicer.

The bolt-hold-open safety selector gives you an easy way to leave the action visibly open at the range, while the rear recoil buffer adds some cushioning at the back of the carrier’s travel.

Neither one turns it into a space gun.

They’re just sensible little additions.

The traditional wood furniture also gives it the look most people picture when somebody says “AK,” instead of another rifle covered in enough aluminum rail to mount a microwave.

If you want a 7.62x39 AK to shoot, take to the range, keep as a general-purpose rifle, or simply add a wood-stocked AK-pattern rifle to the collection, here’s one.

And it already comes with four magazines, which saves you from immediately buying more magazines.
