Here we have a used KelTec PF-9 chambered in 9mm.

The PF-9 came from that wonderfully straightforward period of concealed-carry pistol design where the engineering objective was apparently:

Make 9mm pistol.

Make pistol small.

Remove everything that weighs something.

Ship it.

And KelTec absolutely accomplished that.

The PF-9 is a locked-breech, double-action-only 9mm that weighs only about 12.6 ounces unloaded and is less than an inch wide. It feeds from a seven-round single-stack magazine.

In other words, this thing weighs approximately the same as a respectable sandwich.

Except the sandwich probably has better sights.

The PF-9 is pure old-school KelTec.

It's not trying to feel like a duty pistol.

It's not trying to shoot like a five-pound competition gun.

It's trying to answer one question:

How much 9mm pistol can we cram into something this thin and light?

Quite a bit, apparently.

KelTec introduced the PF-9 in 2006 as an extremely thin, lightweight concealed-carry pistol, and the basic formula was simple: 3.1-inch barrel, seven-round magazine, slim polymer grip, internal hammer and double-action-only trigger.

There isn't much excess material here.

No optics cut.

No giant accessory system.

No interchangeable grip modules.

No flared magwell that looks like it belongs on a Shop-Vac.

It's a skinny little 9mm designed around concealment.

And because physics remains stubbornly undefeated, launching 9mm out of a pistol weighing less than 13 ounces does provide a fairly direct reminder that you are, in fact, shooting a gun.

Nobody is going to fire 400 rounds through a PF-9 and describe the experience as a relaxing spa treatment.

That's not what it was built for.

A Product of the Tiny 9mm Arms Race

The PF-9 makes more sense when you remember what concealed carry looked like when it appeared.

Today you can walk into a gun store and choose between approximately 700 micro-compact 9mm pistols, all fighting over half an ounce and two millimeters of width.

The PF-9 was doing the tiny-single-stack-9mm thing back in 2006.

That's legitimately light.

Possibly too light if your definition of recreational shooting involves functioning nerve endings.

But for something intended to disappear under clothing?

Makes sense.

This KelTec PF-9 is being sold as a used firearm.

Expect normal signs of previous ownership and use consistent with a carried or previously owned compact handgun.
